Global Money Week (GMW), the annual campaign promoting financial literacy for children and young adults, is underway with a focus on safeguarding resources and wise decision-making. The 2024 theme, “Protect your money, secure your future,” highlights the risks of financial scams and fraud, particularly for young people.
Since its inception in 2012, GMW has reached over 60 million young people across 176 countries, providing crucial financial education that promotes resilience and well-being.
Young people are particularly vulnerable to scams such as phishing, money making, online shopping fraud, and identity theft due to limited financial experience. GMW 2024 aims to address these risks, teaching responsible money management and awareness of potential threats.
Global Launch Event
The GMW2024 Global Launch took place from March 18th and will continue to March 24th, in a hybrid format at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris. This year’s launch coincides with the OECD/FinCoNet International Seminar, “Tackling Financial Scams and Frauds.”
Individuals, educators, and organizations are encouraged to participate in Global Money Week 2024 to empower the next generation with the knowledge and skills for a financially secure future.
