Nepal’s Speaker of the House, Dev Raj Ghimire, has directed the government to respond to urgent questions raised by opposition parties in the next parliamentary session on March 4th.
Opposition members have been demanding answers on issues including the Balkumari incident, the plight of farmers, and the predatory practices of loan sharks and microfinance institutions. Despite a previous directive from the Speaker, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was absent from Friday’s meeting, leading to protests from opposition lawmakers.
