Gramthan Rural Municipality of Morang suffered a tragic loss on Sunday night with the passing of Mohammad Mukhtar Khan, the village’s 35-year-old overseer. Khan, originally from Saptari but residing in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-1, was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident.
According to Morang Police spokesperson DSP Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet, Khan was driving a government motorcycle (registration number Ko 1 Kha 1384) on the Biratchowk-Ghinaghat road section around 8:50 pm on Sunday. The accident occurred near Tetariya Chowk in Gramthan-5 when Khan’s motorcycle collided with the back of a parked tipper (registration number Naa 5 Kha 7079).
The impact of the accident left Khan with serious injuries. He was rushed to Aarya Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment but was sadly pronounced dead by medical staff.
The tipper and its driver, 43-year-old Tirtharaj Thakur of Birtamod Municipality-2 in Jhapa, were taken into police custody following the incident.
