A 71-year-old woman was tragically killed by her grandson in a shocking incident in Thawang Rural Municipality of Rolpa. The victim, Saru Roka, was found dead in her home in Jajarkot tol, Ward No. 2, on Monday night.
According to District Police Office Rolpa, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Lama, her 35-year-old grandson, Ramkumar Roka, has been arrested in connection with the murder. Police believe Roka used the butt of a gun to strike the elderly woman on the head, causing fatal injuries.
The incident came to light around midnight when residents alerted the police. The accused was found intoxicated and asleep in his home. A team of police officers, led by Police Inspector Krishna Soni, was immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate the matter.
The gun used in the crime was recovered approximately 75 meters away from the victim’s residence, hidden in a leafy bush.
Further investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the horrific act and to gather additional evidence to support the case against the accused.
