HBO has purchased the OTT (over-the-top) rights for the upcoming Nepali film ‘The Red Suitcase’ in 15 European countries, as reported by international distributor Region Eight Films. The news was confirmed by Hollywood magazine Variety on Thursday. Additionally, screening rights have been sold in Malaysia and Brunei.
The production team behind ‘The Red Suitcase’ expresses confidence in the film’s financial outlook following the HBO acquisition. Producer Ramakrishna Pokharel stated, “HBO has purchased the rights to show the film at a good price, securing our investment.”
This film, which was world premiered in Venice and received praise from the audience and critics is being screened in Nepal from April 12th.
Based on the story of the country’s immigration problem, the film has Saugat Malla, Praween Khatiwada, Shristi Shrestha, and Bipin Karki in the lead roles. Produced by Shobha Thapa for Icefall Productions, the film has been shot by Sushan Prajapati.
