Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning of heavy rainfall across Nepal starting tomorrow, August 5. The monsoon is set to intensify, bringing light to moderate rain in most parts of the country, with heavier downpours in certain regions.
A three-day weather forecast predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Some parts of Karnali and Madhes provinces can also expect significant rainfall.
The department has specifically identified Taplejung, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, and Tehrathum in Koshi, Rasuwa, Chitwan, Sindhupalchok, Dhading, Nuwakot, and Dolakha in Bagmati, Myagdi, Baglung, Kaski, Parbat, Syangja, Tanahun, Nawalparasi East, Lamjung, and Gorkha in Gandaki, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Palpa, Gulmi, Nawalparasi West, Dang, Banke, Bardia, Pyuthan, and Arghakhanchi in Lumbini, and Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Doti, and Baitadi in Sudurpaschim as high-risk areas.
With increased rainfall expected, especially at night, there is a heightened risk of flooding in urban and lowland areas. River levels are likely to rise, and transportation could be disrupted. The department urges the public to take necessary precautions to protect life and property.
