A heavy downpour on Saturday has prompted flood warnings in Jhapa district. The Sanischare rain gauge station recorded a staggering 100.8 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, leading to concerns about rising water levels.
The Flood Forecasting Division has issued a cautionary alert to residents living along the Biring, Adhuwa, and other small rivers in the region. They are advised to be on high alert until 7 am on Friday due to the increased risk of flooding.
In a separate development, the Ninda River in the Mechi watershed has breached the danger level, triggering a siren to warn nearby communities.
Meanwhile, the Department of Water and Meteorology reported moderate to heavy rainfall across Nepal in the last 24 hours. West Seti in Doti district received 65.2 mm of rain, while Panipokhari in Kathmandu and Manekharka in Sindhupalchok recorded 63 mm each.
