Dhanusa police have arrested a husband and his brother-in-law in connection with the murder of a woman seven months ago. Sudip Thakur, 55, and Udit Thakur, 40, were apprehended on charges of killing 50-year-old Rekha Devi Thakur of Sahid Nagar Municipality-7 Nemuwatol.
The suspects allegedly murdered Rekha on October 27th, 2023, and concealed her body within their house. They subsequently fled to India. Upon returning, they removed the body from the house and buried it in bushes near a river.
After being arrested and questioned by police, the brothers confessed and led officers to the location where they had buried Rekha’s remains. A police team recovered her skeleton on Sunday.
Dhanusa Police Spokesperson, DSP Ranjan Awa, confirmed the arrests and stated that both suspects are in custody at the local police office while investigations continue.
