Tanahu, Nepal – A tragic bus accident occurred in Tanahu district on Friday morning, resulting in multiple injuries. An Indian-registered bus carrying passengers from Pokhara to Kathmandu plunged into the Marsyangdi River near Aanbu Khaireni.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 15 passengers are currently unconscious following the accident. Dr. Bhishma Kumar Bhusal, head of the disaster management division, confirmed the information.
Rescue teams, including Nepal Police and armed police divers, have been deployed to the accident site to carry out search and rescue operations. The injured passengers have been rescued and transported to Damauli District Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment. Arrangements are being made to transfer critically injured patients to Kathmandu for further care.
The bus, bearing the registration number UP 53 FT 7623, was traveling on the Pokhara-Muglin road, which has been experiencing frequent landslides due to ongoing road construction work. This accident follows a similar incident on July 12, where two buses fell into the Trishuli River, leading to the disappearance of over 30 passengers, including Indian nationals.
