Jhapa police apprehended a 32-year-old Indian citizen, Tanbir Alam, on Saturday evening for possessing illegal drugs. Alam, who hails from Dhanataula Gram Panchayat in Kishanganj District, Bihar, India, was found with 7 grams of brown sugar during a routine check.
The arrest occurred around 6:30 pm in Jhapa Rural Municipality-5, Pantpada. Police discovered the drugs along with 39,000 Nepali rupees, 200 Indian rupees, and a mobile phone in Alam’s possession. His motorcycle, bearing Indian number plate BR 37 H 9555, was also impounded.
Authorities have not released further details, but an investigation is ongoing.
