Bhairawa, Nepal: Gautam Buddha International Airport is set to welcome its first international commercial flights in a significant boost to Nepal’s tourism industry. Three major airlines have received approval to operate regular services at the airport:

  • Fly Dubai: The UAE-based carrier will launch its inaugural flight to Bhairawa on November 9th. They will offer daily flights between Dubai and Bhairawa, connecting with Kathmandu.
  • Jazeera Airways: Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways will resume operations on October 28th after a brief hiatus. They will operate flights three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
  • Thai AirAsia: Thailand’s Thai AirAsia is also planning to start flights to Bhairawa soon. A technical team from the airline recently visited the airport to assess the facilities and explore the potential for operations.

The airport’s administration has been working diligently to ensure that all necessary infrastructure and procedures are in place to accommodate international flights. This includes immigration, customs, security, and other essential services.

The arrival of these international airlines marks a milestone for Gautam Buddha International Airport, which has been operating domestically since its inauguration in May 2022. The increased connectivity will not only enhance tourism but also boost trade and economic development in the region.
