Iran Attack on Israel

Iran initiated a drone and missile attack against Israel, as confirmed by IDF spokesperson Admiral Daniel Hagari, involving over 200 drones and missiles. This aggressive action occurred following an incident on April 1, where an Israeli airstrike targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals, including high-ranking military officials Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Deputy Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi.

The attack from Iran was launched at 1:45 p.m. local time, significantly heightening tensions within Israel. Reports from the Times of Israel suggest that several Israeli military bases have sustained damage as a result. Israel and the United States have managed to intercept and neutralize a number of the incoming drones, although some remain airborne and are expected to reach Israeli airspace imminently.

In response to the escalating situation, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the attack and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the two nations.
