A strong earthquake rattled Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan early today. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) measured the quake at a magnitude of 5.9, striking around 6:30 am. While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, according to The Japan Times, no tsunami warnings have been issued.
This is the latest in a series of earthquakes to hit Japan this year. In April, a 6.1 magnitude tremor caused some damage, and a powerful 7.5 magnitude quake in January tragically resulted in over 50 deaths and widespread destruction.
