Israel Strikes Iran

The Israeli army carried out strikes against Iran on Friday morning, according to Israeli defense officials. The strikes were reportedly in response to a significant Iranian drone and missile attack on Israel five days prior.

Iranian officials confirmed an attack on a military airbase near the city of Isfahan but did not attribute the strike to any specific country. Fars News, an Iranian news agency, reported an explosion of unknown origin near Isfahan’s civilian airport.

The Israeli army has declined to comment on these reported attacks.

This escalation comes after Iran launched over 300 missiles and drones at Israel last week, following an Israeli strike in Syria that killed seven Iranian officials on April 1st. Israeli leaders had previously threatened retaliation, raising tensions between the two countries.

Iran’s army chief, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, warned on Wednesday that Iran would respond to Israeli aggression. President Biden reportedly advised Israel against a counter-attack.

The recent strikes increase concerns about a wider conflict, as Israel already faces ongoing tensions with Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, both Iranian allies.
