A jeep accident in Rolpa district, Nepal has resulted in the death of seven people. The incident occurred on Monday evening, July 1st, near Parewa Chhahara in Madi Rural Municipality.
Khim Bahadur Rayamajhi, Chief District Officer, confirmed the death toll after visiting Liwang District Hospital. Five people died at the scene of the accident, while two succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
The jeep, carrying 15 passengers, was traveling from Ghartigaon in Madi Rural Municipality to Talawang when it plunged approximately 400 meters down the hillside. The vehicle, identified as Lu 1 Ja 3252, is reported to have been attempting to reverse due to a landslide blocking the road.
Eight people, including the driver, were injured in the accident. Due to limited medical facilities at the local hospital, preparations are underway to transfer those in critical condition to Bhairahawa for further treatment.
Authorities are still working to identify the deceased.
