A horrific accident on Wednesday morning claimed the lives of a woman and a young girl on the Bhimdatta Highway. The jeep, 01-001 Ja 1489, was traveling from Darchula towards Dhangadhi when it met with an unfortunate incident in Jorayal Rural Municipality-1, Khadina.
Details surrounding the cause of the accident are still unclear, according to the Provincial Traffic Police Office in Attariya.
One woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene, and her identity remains unknown.
Two-year-old Ritika Parki, daughter of Harish Parki from Lekam Rural Municipality-6 in Darchula, was rushed to Nisarga Hospital in Dhangadhi but tragically passed away during treatment. Her parents, Harish and Bhawana Oad Parki were also injured in the accident.
The accident resulted in additional casualties. 19-year-old Basudev Nath, 45-year-old Jagatsingh Dhami, 17-year-old Arjun Luhar, and 22-year-old Ramita Oad were all confirmed dead.
While the cause of the accident remains under investigation, authorities were able to confirm that 74-year-old Manmati Dhami also sustained injuries but is expected to recover.
