According to the latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has surpassed Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, as the world’s wealthiest individual. Bezos’ net worth is currently estimated at $200 billion, outpacing Musk’s $198 billion. Bernard Arnault holds the third position with a net worth of $197 billion.
Over the past year, Elon Musk’s net worth has declined by $31.3 billion, while Jeff Bezos has seen a significant increase of $23.4 billion. Bezos, who owns approximately 9% of Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, has also diversified his portfolio with ownership of the space exploration company Blue Origin.
Valuating Blue Origin proves challenging due to its unique strategy and Bezos being the sole shareholder without any apparent inclination to sell, as noted by Chad Anderson, CEO of venture fund Space Angels. Amazon, based in Seattle, reported a revenue of $574.8 billion in 2023, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, and remains a major player in various industries, including electronics, household goods, grocery chains (Whole Foods), and cloud computing and streaming services.
