Jhapa Factory Fire

A devastating fire that broke out at the Bhagwati Laminates Plywood factory in Mechinagar-15 Jyamirgadhi, Jhapa, remains out of control despite six hours of intense firefighting efforts. Local authorities have now requested urgent assistance from Indian fire brigades.

Chief District Officer Bandhu Prasad Bastol confirmed the ongoing struggle to contain the blaze. Local security forces, residents, and fire crews from multiple districts have been battling the fire since it erupted this morning.

“Cooperation in times of border-area disasters is crucial,” stated Vijay Dalmiya, a businessman from Mechhinagar. He recalled a similar incident two years ago where Indian firefighters helped extinguish a fire at SS Footwear in Kakarbhitta.

The presence of flammable chemicals within the factory is severely hampering firefighting efforts. The estimated damage from the fire is expected to reach crores of rupees.
