A fire that raged for over 60 hours at a plywood factory in Mechinagar municipality-15 has finally been extinguished. The blaze caused millions in damages, according to factory owner Santosh Acharya. The main factory block was destroyed, along with large quantities of wood pellets and manufactured plywood.
The factory considered the largest of its kind in Nepal, employed 1200 workers and exported goods internationally. A combined effort involving 12 fire engines, including those from neighboring India, along with teams from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and local community members was required to contain the fire.
District Police Office Chief Milan KC praised the joint response effort in battling the blaze.
