Journalists attempting to cover the 74th National Democracy Day ceremony encountered an obstacle when they were denied entry to the military platform at Tundikhel in Kathmandu.
In response to this refusal, photojournalists expressed their dissatisfaction by organizing a protest at the Army Pavilion gate. Frustrated by their inability to access the venue, they placed their cameras on the ground as a symbolic gesture.
The denial of entry was attributed to the new requirement for a special entry pass for news gathering, a departure from the previous practice where journalist ID cards issued by the Information Department were considered sufficient.
Despite the exclusion of journalists from the news coverage, the ceremony proceeded with the presence of notable figures such as President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, ministers, and high-ranking officials from constitutional bodies.
