A fire in the Bhainskunda area of Mayadevi Rural Municipality Ward No. 2, Kapilvastu, destroyed approximately 3 bighas of wheat on Wednesday afternoon. The fire started while farmers were using a combine harvester. Despite efforts by locals and police, the harvester was also destroyed in the blaze.
Authorities dispatched a police team at 12:15 PM and the fire was extinguished by 12:45 PM with the help of fire extinguishers.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Farmers whose crops were destroyed are facing significant losses.
