Heavy rains have triggered devastating landslides in Kaski, Nepal, resulting in the deaths of 11 people. Including Seven members from the same family.
Kaski Police confirmed casualties at three separate locations:
Pokhara Metropolitan City-19: Seven individuals lost their lives, tragically including an entire family. The victims have been identified as 47-year-old Kul Bahadur Pariyar, his wife Mankumari Pariyar (43), their mother Laxima Pariyar (85), their daughters Prabha (20) and Prashana (15), their son-in-law Asmit Pariyar (25), and a family friend, Radhika Pariyar (56). Rescue efforts were successful in saving 40-year-old Kumar Pariyar (Radhika’s son) and 17-year-old Pawan Pariyar (Kul Bahadur’s son) from the incident. Both individuals have since been discharged from the hospital.
Pokhara-32 Chainpur Bahrabise: A landslide caused the collapse of 40-year-old Aarti Ojha’s house, claiming the lives of her daughters, 18-year-old Anita and 11-year-old Anushka, and her nephew, 9-year-old Pratik Subedi. Aarti is currently receiving treatment at Western Regional Hospital.
Madi Rural Municipality-11 Lower Taple: An 80-year-old woman, Maitikumari Gurung, died after being buried in a landslide at her home. Her son, 55-year-old Om Bahadur Gurung, was fortunately rescued.
This tragedy highlights the dangers of landslides during heavy monsoon rains. Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the victims.
