Kathmandu Power Cuts

Residents in selected areas of Kathmandu will need to prepare for daily four-hour power cuts beginning tomorrow. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has issued a notice announcing the disruptions in electricity service as they work on undergrounding electrical distribution lines.

The scheduled power outages will start on Sunday, and continue through May 10th. The affected neighborhoods are those served by the Kuleshwar, Kirtipur, and Jorpati distribution centers.

The NEA advises that power will be down daily between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm for the entirety of the six-day project.

The NEA apologizes for the inconvenience these power interruptions may cause. They are a necessary step as the city continues its modernization efforts.

Residents in the affected areas should make any necessary adjustments and plan for the power outages. This might mean charging electronics in advance, scheduling tasks around the interruption, and seeking alternate power sources for essential needs.
