Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is partnering with the British Council to bring the “Women of the World Festival” to Kathmandu in November. Sunita Dangol, the deputy head of KMC, recently returned from participating in the festival held in Manchester, UK. Inspired by the event, Dangol announced plans to host a similar festival in Kathmandu.

The Manchester festival offered a platform for diverse perspectives on women’s issues. World-renowned speakers from various fields, including music, art, literature, politics, and acting, shared their experiences. Notably, the conference featured a dialogue session with Australia’s first female Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, alongside Dangol herself. The festival’s founder, Jude Kelly, also participated in the discussions.

Dangol’s participation in the Manchester festival was facilitated by the British Council. The Kathmandu edition of the “Women of the World Festival” promises to be a significant event, fostering dialogue and understanding on a wide range of women’s issues.
