Kathmandu: To accommodate the growing number of Chhath devotees in the Kathmandu Valley, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has constructed Chhath Ghats at eight locations:
- Ward No. 1: Kamal Pokhari
- Ward No. 8: Gaurighat
- Ward No. 11: Banshi Ghat
- Ward No. 13: Dhaukhel Khola
- Ward No. 14: Kumari Club and Bhubaneswori Temple
- Ward No. 16: Balaju Baisadhara
- Ward No. 32: Koteshwor Dobhan
These ghats have been prepared with necessary arrangements for cleanliness, painting, decoration, and security to ensure a smooth and safe celebration for devotees.
Traditionally celebrated primarily in the Terai Madhesh region, Chhath has gained popularity across Nepal, including the Kathmandu Valley. Devotees will conclude the festival on Thursday by offering Arghya to the setting sun and on Friday to the rising sun.
To recognize the significance of this festival, the government has declared Thursday, the main day of Chhath, a public holiday.
