Kavre Resident Arrested in Connection with 61 Kg Gold Smuggling Case

Tharka Man Lama, a 45-year-old resident of Kavre, Nepal, has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the smuggling of 61 kilograms of gold.

The arrest was made by the Valley Crime Investigation Office in Lazimpat, Kathmandu. According to police officials, Lama’s apprehension follows recommendations from a commission formed to investigate the case. This commission had identified several suspects for further investigation.

The initial investigation into the gold smuggling case was handled by the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB). However, following the commission’s report, the probe has been expanded to include the potential involvement of officials from the initial investigation.

This arrest signifies the second phase of the investigation underway, as per the commission’s recommendations.
