Three women lost their lives in Kawasoti, East Nawalparasi while constructing a drainage system. The incident has sparked fury among locals, leading to vandalism of the municipal building and Mayor Bishnu Bhusal’s residence.
Following the tragic deaths of Seti Rana (51), Tanmaya Magar (26), and Chameli Sinjali (32) on Thursday, protestors gathered at the Kawasoti municipality office and the mayor’s house. The protestors, demanding justice for the deceased and punishment for those responsible, vandalized both properties. According to reports, the crowd also attempted to set fire to the mayor’s house.
The three women, residents of Ward No. 5 in Kawasoti Municipality, were reportedly buried alive under a mound of earth while working on a drainage project in Falful Chowk. Locals are pointing fingers at the municipality, accusing them of negligence and demanding a local investigation committee be formed to identify the culprits behind the deaths.
