Khotang Disaster Relief Fund Provides Aid to Fire-Affected Families

KHOTANG, Nepal – The Khotang Disaster Relief Fund has extended vital support to eight families devastated by fires in the district. Each family received Rs. 10,000 in relief aid.

The recipients of this assistance include:

  • Dhan Bahadur Rai and Indra Bahadur Rai (Jantedhunga Rural Municipality-4)
  • Bhagat Bahadur Rai and Bhim Bahadur Rai (Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-12)
  • Gyanmaya Rai and Tek Bahadur Rai (Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-8)
  • Khutprasad Phuyal and Buddhinath Lamsal (Aiselukhark Rural Municipality-6)

“The fund, established in 2072, provides essential support to families affected by disasters,” explained Yugsan Kirat, treasurer of the fund. “Families with partially damaged homes receive Rs. 5,000, while those experiencing complete house loss receive Rs. 10,000.”

Since February 23rd, a series of fires have swept through various areas of the district, resulting in the destruction of 16 houses and 19 cow sheds. Chief of District Police Office, Khotang, Deputy Superintendent of Police Purushottam Khadka, reports estimated property losses of Rs. 16.37 million.
