Kirtipur Municipality Mayor Raj Kumar Nakarmi passed away on Thursday night(July 25th) while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital. He was 61.
Nakarmi had been battling kidney-related issues for an extended period and his condition deteriorated significantly in the past month. He was a prominent figure in the Nepali Congress, serving as the vice president of the party’s Kathmandu district committee.
Elected as Mayor of Kirtipur in the May 2022 local elections, Nakarmi was widely respected for his contributions to the municipality. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
To honor the late mayor, Kirtipur Municipality has declared a public holiday on Friday.
