Kolkata Police have launched an investigation after receiving bomb threat emails targeting two prominent institutions in the city on Tuesday. The emails claimed that timer-operated bombs had been planted at the state-run S.S.K.M. Medical College & Hospital in South Kolkata and Rabindra Bharati University on the northern outskirts of the city.
Additionally, a private university in Kolkata also reported receiving a similar threat email. Upon notification, police, including bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs, promptly arrived at the sites to conduct thorough searches.
As of the latest reports, no suspicious items have been found, and authorities suspect the emails might be hoaxes. However, the cybercrime division of Kolkata Police is actively working to trace the sender by identifying the IP address from which the emails were sent.
