Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a discussion with artists and athletes on Sunday, August 4, to talk about the construction of a new cricket stadium. This meeting, organized in collaboration with the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN), included prominent artists who frequently share their support for cricket on social media during matches.
Among the participants were Niti Shah, Keki Adhikari, Badri Pangeni, Rachana Rimal, Prakash Saput, Miruna Magar, and Raja Rajendra Pokharel. Prime Minister Oli encouraged the artists to inspire the public with hope for the new stadium project.
Oli highlighted the influential role of artists who regularly engage with diverse audiences. Niti Shah, an actress and former Miss Nepal International, proposed integrating cricket with the film industry. She suggested offering sports management courses and preparing players for international interactions through vocational training and interview skills. Shah emphasized that such efforts could enhance understanding among foreign players and expand the fan base. She also recommended organizing friendly sports competitions to promote tourism.
Actress Miruna Magar supported this idea, noting the tourism potential of friendly sports events. Other artists also shared their ideas on connecting cricket with the film industry and generating public enthusiasm for the stadium project.
Prime Minister Oli expressed his gratitude to the participating artists with a letter from the Prime Minister’s Office. Niti Shah shared the letter on Instagram, expressing her happiness. “I am very happy you came today on a short invitation,” the letter read.
