The Kaligandaki corridor road, a vital transportation link in Gulmi district, Nepal, has been blocked due to a landslide. The landslide occurred on Monday morning in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-6, Barlawa, according to Kiran Sapkota, Police Inspector of the District Police Office, Gulmi.
Stones and debris from the landslide have completely blocked the road, hindering traffic flow. Police officials estimate it may take 2-3 days to clear the blockage and reopen the road for vehicles.
“A team led by Police Assistant Inspector Prem Bahadur Khamcha has been deployed from Bhurtung Police Station to commence the clearing operation,” said Inspector Sapkota. “Due to the size of the landslide, it is a significant undertaking, but we are working diligently to restore traffic flow as soon as possible.”
Commuters traveling on the Kaligandaki corridor road are advised to find alternative routes or delay their journeys until the road is cleared. The situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.
