Rolpa: A tragic landslide in Siuri village, Sunchhahari Rural Municipality, East Rolpa, has claimed the lives of a grandmother and her granddaughter. The victims have been identified as approximately 70-year-old Basuna Sunar and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Maya Sunar.
The landslide occurred on Friday afternoon, burying the victims’ two-room stone and mud house. Rescue efforts, involving residents and security personnel, were hampered by the ongoing rain. The grandmother’s body was recovered on Friday, while the granddaughter’s remains were found the following morning.
The surviving family member, Deusi Sunar, has been relocated to a safer location. Additional police forces have been deployed from the Pobang police office to assist with rescue and recovery operations.
