A devastating landslide struck Silichong Rural Municipality-1 Sisuwakhola in Sankhuwasabha district this morning, burying two members of the same family.
According to Silichong Rural Municipality Chairman Bhupalraj Mehwahang, 55-year-old Motimaya Rai and 25-year-old Samsika Rai perished in the disaster. Village Chairman Mewahang further reported that Motimaya and her daughter-in-law, Sansika, were tragically crushed by a large rock dislodged by the landslide.
The landslide also caused serious injuries to 29-year-old Rabina Rai, who was struck by a falling stone. Officials report that preparations are underway to airlift Rabina to Kathmandu by Nepalese Army helicopter for critical medical care.
