Eleven people were tragically killed by lightning strikes in the village of Malda, West Bengal, on Thursday, according to government officials.
Several others were injured in the incident. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences to the victims’ families and announced a compensation of 2 lakh rupees for each bereaved family. The government will also cover the medical expenses of those injured.
