Lightning Strikes Jumla

Jumla, Nepal – A devastating lightning strike claimed the lives of 56 sheep in Lamachaur Patan, located in Tatopani Rural Municipality-4, Jumla district.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, resulting in the loss of livestock belonging to six farmers from Patarasi-2. Local authorities are still gathering information about the exact circumstances, but initial reports indicate that the sheep were struck by lightning during grazing.

A police team from Talfi police station was dispatched to the affected area to investigate the incident and provide assistance to the affected farmers. However, their arrival was delayed due to the remote location and challenging terrain.

This is the second such incident in Jumla in recent weeks. On July 30th, approximately 100 sheep were killed by lightning in Deuli Patan, Tila Rural Municipality. The increasing frequency of these tragic events highlights the dangers faced by livestock in the region during the summer months.
