Two individuals lost their lives in separate lightning strikes within the Modi Rural Municipality, Parbat district, on Saturday evening. The victims have been identified as Prem Kumari Shahi, 58, of Bhukatangle, and Shalikram Timilsina, 57, a resident teacher in Ramjadeurali.
Mr. Timilsina was fatally struck by lightning at his home around 6:30 pm on Saturday. Despite being rushed to Gandaki Medical College in Pokhara, he sadly succumbed to his injuries. Ms. Shahi also passed away after being transported to Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara following a lightning strike.
Authorities are currently at the incident sites to conduct investigations and gather further details. Additionally, the heavy rain and hail accompanying Saturday evening’s storm caused significant damage to crops in the Modi Rural Municipality, with reports of orange trees being destroyed.
