The political landscape in the Madhesh Province has shifted dramatically as the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) withdrew from the ruling coalition on the same day that Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav faced a critical vote of confidence.
This move was signaled by the resignation of LSP’s Ramesh Prasad Kurmi, who held the position of Minister of Forests and Environment. Lawmaker Upendra Mahato confirmed that the LSP will vote against Chief Minister Yadav, further destabilizing the government.
The vote of confidence is facing additional turmoil as the Madhes Province Assembly meeting was disrupted by protests from Janamat Party lawmakers. After the protest, the Provincial Assembly was adjourned for 10 minutes, leaving the outcome of the confidence vote in question.
