The Maldhunga-Beni road section, a critical part of the Kaligandaki Corridor Highway, will be closed to vehicular traffic for 13 days starting tomorrow, June 22nd. This closure is necessary to facilitate black-topping works on the road.
The Kaligandaki Corridor Maldhunga-Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project Office says that only the initial five kilometers between Maldhunga and Pharse will be blacktopped in this first phase. The remaining seven kilometers will be addressed later.
An agreement was reached at a district-level meeting to close the road to most traffic during this period. However, essential service vehicles, including ambulances, will be allowed passage. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes while the closure is in effect.
The Road Project Office is confident that the black-topping work will be completed within 13 days, barring any unforeseen weather disruptions.
