A 28-year-old man has died while in police custody in Kakarvitta, Jhapa.
Jhak Bahadur Khadka, a resident of Mechinagar Municipality Ward No. 6, was arrested on July 30, 2024, for possession of 5 grams of brown heroin. He was detained for a five-day investigation.
Tragically, Khadka fell critically ill on the same night and was rushed to Amda Hospital in Dhulabari for treatment, where he subsequently passed away.
DSP Krishna Kumar Chand of the District Police Office, Jhapa, confirmed the death and stated that an investigation into the matter is underway. The cause of death is yet to be determined, as the post-mortem report is pending.
