One person is missing in Chitwan after being swept away by a swollen river on Wednesday afternoon, June 26th.
According to the Chitwan District Police Office, 45-year-old Rana Bahadur Kami, a resident of Madi Municipality-5, was crossing the Chharchhare Magui River when he was swept away by the strong currents around 1:15 pm.
“A search operation is currently underway for Rana Bahadur under the leadership of the police inspector of the Madi area police office,” said DSP Bheshraj Rijal, spokesperson for the Chitwan District Police Office.
Heavy rain has been lashing the Madi area, causing the river to rise significantly. As a result, all traffic between Bharatpur and Parsa Thori via Madi has been halted.
The Chitwan District Administration Office issued a warning on Wednesday, citing heavy rainfall recorded at the Kalyanpur Rain Measuring Center in Madi. They have urged residents to remain vigilant and aware of the potential for flooding in other Riu Khola tributaries within Madi.
