A construction worker is missing after being swept away by the Mahakali River in Kanchanpur district on Sunday afternoon.
The laborer, identified as Dhan Bahadur Gurung from Barahatal Rural Municipality-4 Sajghat of Surkhet, was reportedly fishing with colleagues from the four-lane concrete bridge construction company when the incident occurred, according to Umesh Joshi, Deputy Superintendent of Police and spokesperson for the Kanchanpur District Police Office.
Authorities have deployed a diving team to search for Gurung. Search efforts are hampered by the increased water flow in the Mahakali River due to recent rainfall.
