The Ministry of Home Affairs has initiated a series of personnel changes, most notably appointing Kosh Hari Niraula as the new Director General of the Department of Immigration (DoI). This appointment fills a critical vacancy left since February 18th when the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case against former director general Rudra Singh Tamang.

Niraula, a former Joint Secretary of Home Affairs, is expected to restore stability and address disruptions in immigration-related services caused by the leadership absence.

Additional changes include the reassignment of Gogan Bahadur Hamal, former chief of Tribhuvan Airport Immigration Office, to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. Nar Bahadur Thapa will take his place.

Furthermore, the Ministry has reshuffled chief district officers (CDOs) in 11 districts. Other transfers and responsibility shifts include Kamal Raj Dhakal’s transfer to the Ministry of Home Affairs as Joint Secretary.
