In a devastating incident, a married couple lost their lives in a motorcycle accident that occurred on Wednesday evening in the Mohanyal Rural Municipality of Kailali. The victims have been identified as Khakendra Dhakal and his wife Maisra, residents of Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-1 Kuika in Achham.
The unfortunate incident took place at Pitmari under the Kuine-Chisapani road section of Mohanyal rural municipality-7, when the motorcycle with registration number VE 13 PA 1074, which the couple was riding, veered off the road and fell into the Karnali river. The accident transpired around 7 pm as they were en route from Achham to Bhurigaun in Bardia.
Local authorities reported that the motorcycle plunged approximately 200 meters below the road, leading to the tragic demise of the couple. Efforts to rescue them were initiated promptly, and a motorboat was employed to retrieve their bodies from the river.
Khakendra Dhakal and Maisra were later identified by the police as residents of Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-1 Kuika in Achham. Following the retrieval, their bodies have been moved to Tikapur Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
The Dhakal couple leaves behind a grieving family, survived by their son and daughter. The entire community is mourning the loss of the couple, and condolences have been pouring in from friends, relatives, and well-wishers.
