Kolkata, India: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted a polygraph test on Sanjay Roy, the arrested suspect in the high-profile rape-murder case at RG Kar Hospital. According to investigators, Roy’s answers to questions about his newly professed innocence were flagged as “false and unconvincing.”
A pair of designated CBI officers carried out the polygraph test at Kolkata’s Presidency jail. Despite Roy’s state-appointed counsel raising concerns about the agency’s adherence to National Human Rights Commission guidelines, the test proceeded without a defense lawyer present.
CBI sources revealed that Roy appeared “unnerved and anxious” during the two-hour questioning. Despite presenting him with forensic evidence linking him to the crime, Roy maintained his innocence. He claimed to have discovered the victim’s body after she had already died and stated that he fled the scene out of fear.
The polygraph test results further undermine Roy’s credibility and strengthen the case against him. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen whether additional evidence will be uncovered to prove his involvement in the heinous crime definitively.
