The Nagarik Unmukti Party has taken a decisive step, withdrawing its support from the Nepali Congress-led government in Sudurpaschim province. Party chairperson Ranjita Shrestha has instructed the provincial parliamentary party to exit the ruling coalition.
Shrestha emphasized that the provincial party must follow the decisions reached at the party’s March 27th meeting and warned of consequences if her instructions are ignored.
This move underscores internal divisions within the Nagarik Unmukti Party. While Resham Chaudhary, a founding member, opposes joining a new coalition, Chairperson Shrestha supports aligning with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. This alignment was already demonstrated at the federal level when the party voted in confidence for Prime Minister Dahal.
