NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Christopher Cavoli, announced that the alliance will stage its largest exercise in decades, with approximately 90,000 personnel expected to take part.
The exercise, named “Exercise Steadfast Defender 2024,” is set to begin next week and last until May. The operations will involve all 31 NATO nations as well as Sweden, Cavoli told a press briefing in Brussels on Thursday after a two-day NATO Military Chiefs of Defence meeting, according to Xinhua.
Regarding the ongoing confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, Rob Bauer, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, stated that “there is back and forth in the front” and that “both sides are now in a phase where it is not moving a lot forward one way or the other”.
