Madhesh Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav received a significant boost ahead of today’s vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly. Both the Nepali Congress (NC) and the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) have announced their decision to support him.

NC Chief Whip Kumarkant Jha confirmed that the party’s parliamentary meeting voted to extend a confidence vote to Chief Minister Yadav. Similarly, LSP lawmaker Upendra Mahato echoed this sentiment, stating that his party’s parliamentary meeting made the same decision.

This support is crucial for Yadav, who belongs to the Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP). With NC holding 22 seats, JSP having 19, and LSP contributing 8, the combined backing brings the total to 49 seats in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly.

To secure the vote of confidence, Chief Minister Yadav requires the support of 54 lawmakers. While the current tally suggests he may fall short, today’s vote could see a shift in allegiances.
