Nepal and Qatar Set to Sign Key Agreements During Emir’s Visit

The Nepalese government is poised to endorse a series of significant memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Nepal and Qatar, marking a pivotal step in bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

These MoUs are slated to be signed during the forthcoming two-day state visit of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, at the invitation of Nepalese President Ramchandra Paudel. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is set to arrive in Nepal today, embarking on a visit that extends through tomorrow.

In a notable decision, the Council of Ministers convened on Monday and decreed a public holiday on April 23, in anticipation of the Emir’s visit.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, disclosed that the cabinet has also sanctioned the state visit program of the Qatari Emir, with Prime Minister Paudel slated to lead the discussions with the Qatari delegation.

The impending MoUs are expected to cover areas of mutual interest, including cooperation in youth and sports, as well as education and scientific research, underscoring the commitment of both nations to fostering robust ties across various sectors.
