Biratchowk: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has finalized the 16-member squad for Nepal’s upcoming tour of Canada. The team will participate in the ICC League 2 and a triangular T20I series.
Several notable players have been left out of the final squad, including middle-order batsman Sundeep Jora, Aakash Chand, and Sagar Dhakal.
In the fast bowling department, the decision to include Rijan Dhakal over Akash Chand was based on the team’s need for a left-arm pacer. Rijan has previously represented Nepal in ODIs against Canada. The absence of Pratish GC, a left-arm seamer who has been a regular in the team, opened the door for Rijan.
The middle-order batting slot will be filled by Bhim Sarki and Aarif Sheikh. Spinner Lalit Rajbanshi, who has been in consistent form, has earned a place in the squad. He will support the experienced Sandeep Lamichhane.
Nepal’s 22-member squad was initially announced before the tour. However, due to various reasons, Basir Ahamad, Surya Tamang, and Kamal Singh Airee were unable to make the trip to Sri Lanka for a training camp.
The team is now set to depart for Canada on Tuesday. Dev Khanal has been named as the traveling reserve.
